The site for Restaurant Christian was about 6 years old and so I was asked to make a new website and newsletter for Christian.
After inspecting the old website I knew I had to do a complete make-over. I could only use the existing content, but the design, the structure and the CMS had to be redone, because it was just too old.
In the design I added the personal touch that is significant for the restaurant in real life. So I gave Chef Christian (the owner of the Restaurant) a prominent place in the header. He's both the host of his restaurant and his website. Besides the design I took a good look at the structure and changed it completely from the old site. Now it's more logical and divided into smaller parts of information.
For the CMS I used Wordpress instead of Joomla (was used for the old site). I really took some time to make the site easy for any user to maintain. Especially the part with the wines needed a better way of maintaining.
Besides the website there was also the newsletter to upgrade. For the newsletter I decided to switch to the service that Mailchimp supplies. It's a very nice application for newsletters of various sizes. The whole newsletter and the way users can subscribe or unsubscribe has greatly impoved with this service. It also provides a lot more statistics for the newsletter.
